Sailor Pants

Garment

Design

Sailor pants. I designed and reverse engineered some sailor pants referencing 1940s sailor pants images.

Patternmaking

I will say, this was probably one of the hardest patterns I did for this entire final line. This is because I completely reverse engineered the sailor pants by looking at a bunch of images of sailor pants. I started out with a pants fitted block we made in my time at SCC. I took elements I liked from different pants, like how the button placket was part of the pants pockets, or that some sailor pants had back welt pockets. The sailor bib is a bit unique in style because I had no images of what that looked like and kinda just made one up. It works, and I am proud of it as it is now my own unique design.
